Community of Practice:
Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone- K12 vs Community Work (Northern NV)
Date: November 16th, 2024
Time: 10:30am-1:30pm
Location:
Cost: FREE*
*Space limited to 20 people
Moderators: Amy Ford and Gina Gifford
Description:
Taking on interpreting work in a new setting or with unfamiliar participants can be nerve wracking, but by scaffolding similarities between familiar and unfamiliar work, and implementing the RID CPC or NAIE Code of Ethics, we can ethically accept assignments that we might normally decline.
Please join us for a Community of Practice event to discuss barriers preventing us from taking new kinds of work, differences and similarities in K12 and Community work, and strategies that will encourage you to ethically take new kinds of interpreting work. Discussions will be fully interactive to facilitate interpersonal support and complex professional dialogue. This Community of Practice event will benefit working educational interpreters, community interpreters, and interpreting students.
Discussion will be held in ASL.
